Congressman Bruce Westerman has outlined U.S. energy security, national security, and energy independence as priorities in his new role as Chairman of the House Natural Resources Committee.
Instead of imposing limits on fossil fuels, Westerman will focus on nuclear energy and carbon sequestration to help reduce carbon emissions, and he’s looking to open up more mining resources for cobalt, nickel, and copper.
Westerman, who says electric vehicles’ impact on carbon emissions is “overstated,” will be discussing the permitting process for green energy projects with Senator Joe Manchin, as well.
Westerman says, “What the world wants is reliable and affordable energy, and we’ve got to be the innovators that figure out how to make that clean.”
