State Lawmakers File Vaccine, FOIA, Daylight Savings Time Bills

The 94th General Assembly has just begun and already several interesting bills have been filed covering a range of issues from vaccine harm, sentencing reform, county judge powers, enhanced care for newborns, and permanent Daylight Savings Time to a possible change to the FOIA. (These are not all the bills that have been filed.)

SB8  BKing (R)  TO CREATE THE CRIMINAL OFFENSE OF VACCINE HARM.

HB1088  MBerry (R)    TO AMEND THE DEFINITIONS USED IN RELATION TO THE OFFENSE OF THREATENING A JUDICIAL OFFICIAL OR JUROR.

HB1087   MBerry  (R)   TO CREATE ADDITIONAL FINES AND REQUIRE PUBLIC SERVICE WORK FOR SPEEDING OFFENSES.

HCR1005  MBentley  (R)   TO PROCLAIM RELIGIOUS FREEDOM DAY

HB1097  DRay (R)    TO REDUCE THE TOP MARGINAL TAX RATE FOR INDIVIDUAL TAXPAYERS

HB1016 DRay (R) TO CREATE THE INFLATION REDUCTION ACT OF 2023

HB1025 DRay (R) TO AMEND THE LAW CONCERNING CIRCULATION OF PETITIONS; AND TO LIMIT PETITION CIRCULATION AT POLLING PLACES.

HB1026 DRay (R) TO PROHIBIT LOCAL GOVERNMENTS FROM ENACTING AN INCOME TAX.

HB1027 DRay (R) TO REQUIRE VOTER APPROVAL OF CERTAIN TAX LEVIES

HB1029 SMeeks (R) TO AUTHORIZE DELAYED RELEASE FROM PRISON FOR CERTAIN SEX OFFENDERS UNTIL THE SEX OFFENDER HAS SERVED AT LEAST EIGHTY PERCENT (80%) OF HIS OR HER SENTENCE.

HB10248 SMeeks (R) TO AMEND THE POWERS OF A COUNTY QUORUM COURT

SB43  GStubblefield  (R)   TO CLASSIFY A DRAG PERFORMANCE AS AN ADULT-ORIENTED BUSINESS; AND TO ADD ADDITIONAL LOCATION RESTRICTIONS TO AN ADULT-ORIENTED BUSINESS.

SB41  RHill   (R)   TO REGULATE ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL JUSTICE, OR GOVERNANCE SCORES OR METRICS; AND TO ALLOW THE TREASURER OF STATE TO DIVEST THE STATE OF STOCKS, SECURITIES, OR OTHER OBLIGATIONS.

HB1104  SRichardson (R)   TO ADOPT DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME PERMANENTLY; CONCERNING DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME; AND TO AMEND THE DUTIES OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE.

HB1103  JMayberry   (R)  TO CREATE THE UNIVERSAL NEWBORN HOME NURSE VISITATION PROGRAM TO PROVIDE HOME VISITATION SERVICES FOR A NEWBORN INFANT AND THE PARENTS OF A NEWBORN INFANT.

HB1010 APilkington (R) TO REQUIRE MEDICAID COVERAGE FOR POSTPARTUM MOTHERS FOR ONE YEAR AFTER GIVING BIRTH

HB1102  APilkington    (R)  TO CREATE THE UNIVERSAL NEWBORN SCREENING ACT; AND TO ENSURE THAT NEWBORNS ARE SCREENED FOR CONDITIONS RECOMMENDED BY THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES.

HB1099  ACollins (D) TO SPECIFY THE TIME WITHIN WHICH ONE MAY SEEK AN OPINION FROM THE ATTORNEY GENERAL ON WHETHER THE DECISION OF A PUBLIC-RECORDS CUSTODIAN REGARDING THE RELEASE OF CERTAIN PUBLIC RECORDS IS CONSISTENT WITH THE LAW.
