Thirty-nine House Republicans joined Democrats on December 8 to pass the “Respect for Marriage Act” that requires the federal government to recognize unions regardless of the two individuals’ sex, race or ethnicity. All four Arkansas Congressmen voted against the measure.
The Senate passed the bill the week before in a similar, bipartisan vote (both Arkansas Senators voted “no”). The measure now goes to President Joe Biden’s desk for signing.
